Sunday Pulpit Series

Recovery: 13
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Satan cunningly disguises some losses to make them look like gains in the eyes of his victims.
Eve thought she was gaining.
Genesis 3:6 NKJV
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”

She discovered too late, that she had rather lost her innocence, home, blessings, fellowship with God, and her immortality.
The “Prodigal Son” also thought he was gaining a great fortune.
Luke 15:11-12a NKJV
“Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’”

His father gave him a great fortune.
Luke 15:12b NKJV
“….So he divided to them his livelihood.”

Unfortunately, he didn’t have the wisdom, discipline and holiness to maintain his inheritance.
The prosperity of fools will destroy them.
Proverbs 1:32 KJV
“For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.”

The “Prodigal Son” soon lost everything.
Luke 15:13 NKJV
“And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.”

His wild partying lifestyle reduced him to poverty, which was worsened by a famine.
He began to recover after he came to himself.
Luke 15:17 NKJV
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!”

May you receive total restoration as you go to church.
