Morning Message of Motivation

Barnabas: 40
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Manaen was very unlikely to become a Christian, let alone become a prophet. He had been brought up in a very ungodly palace.
Acts 13:1 NKJV
“Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.”

Herod the Tetrarch was a beast. He was a rabid hater of God and a hater of men of God. He persecuted our Lord Jesus and threatened to kill Him.
Luke 13:31 NKJV
“On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”

Our Lord Jesus was not troubled, but He knew what was fighting Him.
Luke 13:32 NKJV
“And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’”

The spirt on Herd was a sly, cunning and wicked spirit, just like a fox.
It was this same Herod who threw John the Baptist into prison.
Mark 6:17-18 NKJV
“For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife; for he had married her. Because John had said to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”

Herod’s incestuous relationship.
Herod divorced his first wife, and then broke up his own brother’s marriage and married Herodias, his brother’s wife. This level of immorality was unheard of. There are some sins that even unbelievers consider an abomination.
1 Corinthians 5:1 NKJV
“It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles—that a man has his father’s wife!”

Manaen was raised by this immoral and bloodthirsty despot who killed both John the Baptist and our Lord Jesus. Christ called him a fox. Manaen survived such an evil upbringing and became a major prophet of Christ.

May you survive every negative environment. May evil influences be aborted and neutralised, in Jesus’s name.
