We live in the era of the dispensation of grace or unmerited favour, ushered in by our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 1:16 NKJV
“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”
Moses ushered in the era of “Law” but Christ ushered in “Grace.”
John 1:17 NKJV
“For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
Paul received his Apostleship through the grace of God.
Ephesians 3:8 NKJV
“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,”
Paul is NOT one of the “Twelve Apostles of the Lamb.”
Acts 1:24-25a NKJV
“And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell..”
Matthias was chosen to replace Judas
Acts 1:26 NKJV
“And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.”
Paul and Barnabas fall into a different category of apostles.
They are regular fivefold ministers.
Ephesians 4:11 NKJV
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,”
The Twelve Apostles were brought directly into the office of apostle.
Luke 6:13 NKJV
“And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:”
Paul and Barnabas began as prophets and teachers.
