New things invariably face resistance.
The Jews consistently resisted the Holy Ghost.
Acts 7:51 NKJV

The Insulted Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 20:8 NIV
“Whenever I speak, I cry out

So the word of the LORD has brought me
insult and reproach all day long.”
They denounced Jeremiah.

“I hear many whispering, “Terror on every side! Denounce him! Let’s denounce him!”
They fought Jeremiah using “Ill wishes.
Jeremiah 20:10b NIV
“…All my friends are waiting for me to slip, saying, “Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail over him and take our revenge on him.”
They accused Jeremiah of desertion.
Jeremiah 37:13b NIV
“…Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”
They beat and jailed Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 37:15 NIV
“They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.”
God told Jeremiah not to fear them.
Jeremiah 1:8 NIV
“Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.”
God gave Paul similar assurances in Corinth.
Acts 18:9-10 NIV
“One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”
