Paul’s revelation was based on the two pillars of “Grace” and “Faith.”
Salvation is by grace through faith.
Ephesians 2:8 NKJV
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”
Salvation is not by the works of the Law.
Galatians 2:16 NKJV
“knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.”
The Judaizers tried to add circumcision as an additional requirement to grace, before one could be saved.
Acts 15:1 NKJV
“And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
False brethren infiltrated the church and pretended to be saved, but their plan was to pervert the doctrine.
Galatians 2:4 NKJV
“And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage),”
Paul refused to yield to the Jews and add circumcision to grace.
Galatians 2:5 NKJV
“to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.”
Much of the persecution Paul faced would have ceased if he agreed to preach circumcision.
Galatians 5:11 NKJV
“And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased.”
May you be fully established in the freedom that Christ purchased for us. You are free and blessed, in Jesus’s name.
