Almighty God has always stayed involved in human affairs. Even after man’s fall. God came looking for Adam.
Genesis 3:8a NKJV
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden…”
God called for Adam.
Genesis 3:9 NKJV
“Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”
Adam was afraid.
Genesis 3:10 NKJV
“So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
Adam was feeling fear for the first time.
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Adam did not say he was naked because of lack of clothes because he had never worn any clothes before.
Genesis 2:25 NKJV
“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”
Sin had robbed Adam of his righteousness, so he could no longer stand in God’s presence without a sense of inferiority, guilt and shame.
Indeed Adam and Eve had already clothed themselves with fig leaves, before God came so Adam’s problem was not natural nakedness but rather spiritual exposure.
God’s plan has always been to redeem man and restore his lost dominion. The first step in man’s restoration was to regain his righteousness.
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Christ’s sacrifice has given us a right standing with God.
Colossians 1:22 NKJV
“in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—“
