Some dreams and vision are self explanatory, so that the message they convey is easily understood by all.
Paul’s dream calling him to Macedonia.
Acts 16:9 NKJV
“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
All who heard Paul’s dream unanimously agreed it meant one thing.
Acts 16:10 NKJV
“Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.”
They were helped in their interpretation by the surrounding circumstances.
•They had been looking for God’s will concerning where they should preach next. They had attempted to preach in two cities but the Holy Spirit had stopped them.
Acts 16:6 NKJV
“Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.”
They were expecting the Holy Spirit to show them where to preach next, so they understood the dream to be their answer.
These are dreams that tell a story by figuratively using animals, plants and places. Pharaoh’s dreams were allegorical.
He saw seven lean cows consume seven fat cows.
Genesis 41:4 NKJV
“And the ugly and gaunt cows ate up the seven fine looking and fat cows. So Pharaoh awoke.”
Allegorical dreams do not profit unless there is interpretation.
Pharaoh did not know what the seven fat and seven lean cows represented, so his dreams were of no help to him.
God completed the revelation by giving Joseph the interpretation.
Genesis 41:26 NKJV
“The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads are seven years; the dreams are one.”
May the Lord grace you with abundant revelations. May your life be an instrument in God’s hand to save many, in Jesus’s name.
