Nebuchadnezzar could never have imagined the end of his wonderful Babylonian kingdom. A proud, ungodly and foolish son would later on cause the end of his kingdom.
Ecclesiastes 2:18 NKJV
“Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me.”
Solomon’s frustration was because his labours could end up in the hands of a foolish descendant.
Ecclesiastes 2:19 NKJV
“And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.”
Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom was home to the legendary “Hanging Gardens of Babylon” which were one of “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.”
The “Hanging Gardens” were a remarkable feat of engineering with an ascending series of tiered gardens containing a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and vines.
The Babylonian kingdom would be later on overthrown by the Medo-Persian empire, during the reign of Belshazzar, the son of Nebuchadnezzar.
Almighty God overthrew the Babylonian kingdom because of its pride, idolatry and sacrilege.
•Sacrilege i.e. Disrespect for sacred things.
Daniel 5:3 NKJV
“Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them”.
Daniel 5:22-23a NKJV
“But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven…”
Daniel 5:23b NKJV
“And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.”
May new seasons arise for you and your family. May you be totally liberated to build for the Lord God, in Jesus’s name.
