Fortunately, the rejection of Saul by the Jerusalem church was short lived. The Lord used Barnabas to minister acceptance to Saul.
Acts 9:27 NKJV
“But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.”
Great men need great friends.
Saul needed Barnabas, just as David needed Jonathan, and Moses needed Pharaoh’s daughter. Great men often pass through times when they are vulnerable and weak, before they enter their glory.
Job 8:7 NKJV
“Though your beginning was small,
Yet your latter end would increase abundantly.”
It is during these early times of weakness that people with prophetic foresight, must step in to help them.
Abner presented David to king Saul after he had killed Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:57 NKJV
“Then, as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.”
David was anointed but he didn’t have royal clothes for the palace. He was dressed in bloody and dirty clothing because, he was holding Goliath’s head.
King Saul adopted David straightway and invited him to live in his palace.
1 Samuel 18:2 NKJV
“Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore.”
Jonathan stepped in to help David.
1 Samuel 18:3 NKJV
“Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”
Jonathan first changed David’s clothes.
1 Samuel 18:4 NKJV
“And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.”
He dressed David for his new level.
May you receive covenant helpers. May you meet the right people, for this stage of your life. May you help others, in Jesus’s name.
