The persecution of Paul began in Damascus soon after his conversion. Paul was immediately gifted as a marvellous preacher.
Acts 9:20 NKJV
“Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.”
Those who knew him before his conversion were amazed.
Acts 9:21 NKJV
“Then all who heard were amazed, and said, “Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”
Only Jesus Christ has this kind of life transforming power.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Many were baffled by Paul’s marvellous transformation, but Paul kept going forward in his new faith.
Acts 9:22 NKJV
“But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.”
The marvel of his conversion from a great hater of the church to a major preacher, combined with his anointed preaching, was too much for the Jews in Damascus.
They Jews tried to kill Saul.
Acts 9:23 NKJV
“Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him.”
Almighty God exposed their plot to Saul.
Acts 9:24 NKJV
“But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night, to kill him.”
The Believers rallied around to protect Saul.
Acts 9:25 NKJV
“Then the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket.”
The assassins were focused on the gates of Damascus. They were sure that Saul would by all means come out through the gates, but God gave Saul another exit. He was lowered in a basket over the wall.
May you be delivered from all pains and troubles. May you be delivered from all the plots and tricks of the enemy, in Jesus’s name.
