The Lord Jesus Christ’s priority is for the gospel to go to every creature. The angel that freed the apostles told them to go back to the temple and teach the “Word of life.”
Acts 5:21a NKJV
“And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught…”
The apostles knew that this instruction from the angel was dangerous, but they were not trying to be safe.
The Sanhedrin gathered the next day and
sent for the apostles, only for the officers to report that they had vanished.
Acts 5:24 NKJV
“Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be.”
Someone brought a report that the apostles were in the temple preaching Jesus Christ.
Acts 5:25 NKJV
“So one came and told them, saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!”
The manifestation of the supernatural can lead to two outcomes.
Firstly, men may repent and believe.
The Philippian jailer believed when the prison shook and all the doors opened miraculously.
Acts 16:34 NKJV
“Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.”
He brought Paul and Silas into his home and ministered to them.
Secondly, men can become more evil.
Acts 6:15 NKJV
“And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.”
Stephen’s face shone like an angel, and he saw visions of open heavens.
Acts 7:56 NKJV
“and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
This vision of Stephen made them even more murderous.
Acts 7:57-58a NKJV
“Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him…”
May you believe as you see the supernatural signs of God. May you put God’s kingdom above your comfort, in Jesus’s name.
