Apostolic Patience: 4
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The apostles had tremendous testimonies of divine deliverance from seemingly impossible situations.
There were times they despaired of life itself.
2 Corinthians 1:8 NKJV
“For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.”

Paul’s greatest ministry success was in Ephesus, a chief city of Asia, and Asia was also the place of his greatest trials.
Paul says he fought wild beasts in Ephesus.
1 Corinthians 15:32 NKJV
“If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

Satan raised a counterattack against the mighty revival in Ephesus, using a silversmith called Demetrius.
Acts 19:23-24 NKJV
“And about that time there arose a great commotion about the Way. For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Diana, brought no small profit to the craftsmen.”

The revival sweeping through Ephesus and all Asia, was turning multitudes away from the idolatrous worship of Diana.
The revival threatened their prosperity.
Acts 19:25 NKJV
“He called them together with the workers of similar occupation, and said: “Men, you know that we have our prosperity by this trade.”

They blamed Paul for the collapse of their trade.
Acts 19:26 NKJV
“Moreover you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods which are made with hands.”

Demetrius raised a wild mob to be baying for Paul’s blood.
Acts 19:28-29a NKJV
“Now when they heard this, they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, “Great is Diana of the Ephesians!” So the whole city was filled with confusion,”

The wild mob was ready to tear Paul, in pieces.
Paul however saw it as an opportunity to preach the gospel.
Acts 19:30 NKJV
“And when Paul wanted to go in to the people, the disciples would not allow him.”

May you see your greatest successes in this difficult season in time. May all satanic counterattacks backfire, in Jesus’s name.
