The apostles had the capacity to resist the forces of hell arrayed against them. They knew that Christ was building His own church.
Matthew 16:18 NKJV
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
They saw themselves as co-labourers together with God.
1 Corinthians 3:9 NKJV
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.”
They won their battles because they didn’t count their lives dear unto themselves.
Acts 20:24 NKJV
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
They were ready to lay down their lives for their Lord.
Christ prophesied about both the time and manner of Peter’s death.
John 21:18 NKJV
“Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.”
Christ was talking about the way Peter would die to glorify God.
John 21:19a NKJV
“This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God.”
Christ predicted that Peter would be old before he died. Herod tried to kill Peter before his time and in a way that would not bring glory to God.
Acts 12:4 NKJV
“So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.”
Herod intended to humiliate Peter before the people and kill him. The church prayed and Peter was delivered. Christ’s prophecy on Peter’s life, prevailed.
May your prophetic word prevail over all antagonistic circumstances. May you win every battle, in Jesus’s name.
