Apostolic Patience: 2
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The signs of an apostle are in two categories, first “Character” represented by “Patience” and secondly “Power” represented by “Signs, Wonders and Miracles.”
2 Corinthians 12:12 KJV
“Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.”

The most notable thing about the “First Century” apostles was their resilience. Nothing could break their spirit.
The miracles they performed provoked the anger of the chief priests.
Acts 5:16 NKJV
“Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”

The priests were furious because the apostles were gaining influence over the people.
Acts 5:17 NKJV
“Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation,”

The chief priests could not work miracles, so they chose rather to attack the apostles.
Acts 5:18 NKJV
“and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.”

They intended to put them on trial the next day, but God’s angel intervened.
Acts 5:19-20 NKJV
“But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”

The angel commanded them to go back and preach in the temple.
They obeyed and went back to preach.
Acts 5:21a NKJV
“And when they heard that, they entered the temple early in the morning and taught.”

They were committed men, who were ready to die for the Lord Jesus.
Revelation 12:11 NKJV
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

May you be a person of strong character. May you be faithful and committed to the cause of the gospel, in Jesus’s name.
