Morning Message of Motivation

Paul and Barnabas: 15
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Peter, Stephen and Paul, have their sermons recorded verbatim in Acts. They all preached essentially the same gospel. Peter learned his message from Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 2:3 NKJV
“how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,”

Christ was the first to preach the gospel.
Luke 4:18a NKJV
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;”

Peter and others who were privileged to hear Jesus preach, confirmed the message, by also preaching the same gospel to others. It is not known if Stephen heard Jesus preach, but we know he grew up under the ministry of Peter and the rest of the “Twelve apostles.”
Paul however was different. He never heard Christ preach, and he had never been a member of the church at Jerusalem.
Paul’s gospel came to him by revelation.
Galatians 1:11-12 NKJV
“But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Our Lord Jesus revealed the gospel to Paul. Paul knew what to preach because of the revelation, that he had received.
The messages were all essentially the same, because the gospel is one gospel. Jesus Christ is the central message of the gospel. Phillip preached Christ in Samaria.
Acts 8:5 NKJV
“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.”

Phillip preached Jesus to the Ethiopian eunuch, using Isaiah 53 as his text.
Acts 8:35 NKJV
“Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.”

May you become a preacher of the gospel of Christ. May you seize the opportunity to learn from others, in Jesus’s name.
