Morning Message of Motivation

Paul and Barnabas: 13
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Paul’s sermon in Antioch of Pisidia was not a scheduled service. They visited a synagogue and sat through the service.
Acts 13:14 NKJV
“But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down.”

They were invited to speak if they had any word for the congregation.
Acts 13:15 NKJV
“And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.”

The apostles were more than ready. They did not need a preaching appointment with several weeks notice.
2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”

Paul stood to preach, and his impromptu message was a classic.
Paul began by acknowledging his audience.
Acts 13:16 NKJV
“Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:”

Paul addressed them as “Men of Israel.” He was preaching to a mainly Jewish crowd because they were in a synagogue, even though they were in a Gentile city.
Paul presented his introduction.
Paul introduces his gospel message, with a summary of God’s dealings with the Jewish nation, from their time in Egypt to the reign of David.
Acts 13:17 NKJV
“The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm He brought them out of it.”

Paul records Israel’s inheritance of the Promised Land.
Acts 13:19 NKJV
“And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.”

May you have a clear message of the gospel to share. May you seize every opportunity to share Christ, in Jesus’s name.
