Morning Message of Motivation

Paul and Barnabas: 9
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

There are many great benefits to unity amongst brethren.
It creates an atmosphere of “Goodness and pleasantness.”
Psalms 133:1 NKJV
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Unity amongst brethren brings blessings.
Psalms 133:3 NKJV
“It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—Life forevermore.”

Satan fights tooth and nail, to try to stop families and churches , from dwelling in unity. Therefore it is necessary to pay whatever price is required, to secure the benefits of unity among brethren.

Abraham paid a high price to maintain unity with Lot.
Abraham gave Lot a very great honour.
Romans 12:10 NKJV
“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;”

Abraham honoured Lot with preferential treatment, by allowing him to choose first.
Genesis 13:9 NKJV
“Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”

Lot immediately saw the advantage in the deal, for himself. In most cultures, honour is given to elders to choose first, but Abraham allowed his nephew to choose first.
Genesis 13:10 NKJV
“And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere….”

Lot put greater value on green pastures and abundant water supply, than on his relationship with Abraham.
Genesis 13:11 NKJV
“Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.”

This “Mutual separation” allowed a peaceful relationship to continue between Abraham and Lot.

May almighty God recompense you for every investment you make to secure unity. May you be blessed, in Jesus’s name.
